Quick Tour 1: Characteristics of Spatial Weights

Analyze the connectivity characteristics of the first order contiguity weights for West Virginia counties, identified by FIPS code.

Required: First order contiguity weights as gal, gwt or fmt file; matching SpaceStat data set that contains FIPS code (Fipsno) as observation index variable. Set Options, Indicator Variable to FIPSNO.

  1. Press Ctrl-O choose the Options, then set

    1. 1-Working directory to C:\space\data\wvhouse\

    2. 4-Indicator variable to FIPSNO.

    3. [Escape] to return to the main menu.

  2. Choose Tools, then 1-Weights Characteristics and 1-Connectivity.

  3. Provide

    1. name of the spatial weights matrix file (wvrook)

    2. name of the SpaceStat data set with matching index variable (wvhouse)
