Training Courses - Introduction to Boundary Analysis using BoundarySeer
If you are interested in attending this course please contact us
Focus:
Environmental sciences, climatology, landscape ecology, criminology, urban planning, public health, epidemiology and related disciplines.
Upon course completion, you will have
- The software you need to undertake geographic boundary analysis and testing. All training participants will receive a student license of TerraSeer's BoundarySeer software to use during the class and take with them upon course conclusion. Attendees will also receive a short-term license for TerraSeer's STIS software, used in data visualization and data preparation in this course.
- A workbook to review and recreate the course exercises at your own pace.
- A practical understanding about how to systematically carry out geographical boundary analysis, using the latest in spatial analytical tools.
This two day course offers an overview of techniques for spatial pattern evaluation and boundary analysis using BoundarySeer software. The course is aimed at researchers and analysts interested in extending the use of a GIS beyond mapping towards the identification and visualization of boundaries. Particularly relevant applications are the study of data on environment, crime, demographics, and public health statistics. Only basic knowledge of GIS and probability is assumed.
The course reviews methods to detect, describe and analyze geographic boundaries including identifying spatial patterns and determining if those patterns occur by chance.
The emphasis is on the effective and appropriate use of the techniques to accurately identify whether there are statistically significant boundaries. This is accomplished by stressing hands-on analysis of sample data sets.
