Training Courses - Advanced Visualization and Analysis of Space-Time Data

If you are interested in attending this course please contact us

Focus:

Multi-disciplinary

Upon course completion, you will have

  • The software you need to undertake exploratory spatio-temporal data analysis. All training participants will receive a student license of TerraSeer's Space-Time Intelligence System software to use during the class and take with you upon course conclusion.
  • A workbook to review and recreate the course exercises at your own pace.
  • A practical understanding about how to systematically carry out exploratory spatial data analysis, using the latest in spatial analytical tools.

This two day course builds on the visualization skills and techniques learned in the first course on space-time analysis, but adds quantification and spatio-temporal statistical analysis. Attendees can bring their own data or build a project in collaboration with other students or using example datasets.

The course covers methods to map and identify outliers, global and local measures of spatial autocorrelation (Moran scatterplot, Anselin's Local Moran) and their extensions to space-time data. The emphasis is on interpreting data and statistics effectively in a highly visual and interactive software environment based on dynamically linked windows. This is accomplished by stressing hands-on analysis of sample data sets. Sample datasets will include colon cancer patterns for African-American and white females and males in the southeastern United States, lung, prostate, and pancreatic cancer patterns at the national level, and geographic pattern in age structure in US counties.
