Time, from season of the year to time of day, is essential to understanding the context that drives real world phenomena, whether you’re looking at health hazards, demographic trends or retail business results.

Unfortunately, GIS are designed for the visualization of spatial data, and are not perfectly suited for real world, space-time data. That’s because today’s GIS deal only with point-in-time data “snapshots”. So, you find yourself building and comparing multiple maps of the same geography to try to understand how your real world subjects move through space and time. Problem is, GIS maps are static, while the underlying data are dynamic.

To solve this problem, TerraSeer has developed an entirely new kind of information system, the TerraSeer Space-Time Intelligence System™.

TerraSeer STIS™ is not a GIS, nor is it based on GIS technology. STIS is a new technology in which time is native to the user interface and the spatial data structure (rather than included as one of a string of attributes). As a result, the TerraSeer STIS brings geographic visualization to a new level with active analysis of time-based change. Use it alone or with a GIS to visualize, animate and analyze dynamic systems in space and time.
